Get ready for some exciting TV news! The cancellation of Suits LA has led to a new and intriguing journey for Josh McDermitt. After the unfortunate demise of the NBC series, McDermitt has secured a significant role in the upcoming season of Fire Country. But here's where it gets interesting...
McDermitt, who portrayed the charismatic criminal defense lawyer Stuart Lane in Suits LA, will now be seen in a recurring role on CBS's dramatic series. He's set to make his debut in season 4, episode 7, airing on December 5th.
In Fire Country, McDermitt takes on the character of Landon, described as "quietly upset and meek on the surface." Landon is the partner of Chloe (played by Alona Tal) and a father figure to her son, Tyler (Conor Sherry). The recent wildfires have left their mark, and Tyler's struggles come to a head when Landon discovers he's run away.
This new role is a welcome opportunity for McDermitt after the cancellation of Suits LA. The spinoff, despite high expectations, failed to impress critics and audiences alike, with a mere 36% Tomatometer score and 54% Popcornmeter score. It was a short-lived run, lasting only one season.
Before Suits LA, McDermitt had a long-running stint on AMC's hit series The Walking Dead, where he portrayed the cowardly yet beloved Dr. Eugene Porter. Eugene's character grew and evolved significantly over the show's run, and McDermitt remained with the series until its finale in season 11.
With the main Walking Dead series now concluded, Eugene's story remains untold in the spinoffs. McDermitt also starred in the season 4 premiere of The Righteous Gemstones, an HBO comedy-drama series created by Danny McBride.
Fire Country season 4 continues to air new episodes at 9 pm ET/PT on CBS.
And this is the part most people miss... the potential for a love triangle! Chloe, played by Alona Tal, and Bode, portrayed by Max Thieriot, share a history as former high school peers with a mutual crush. Now, with Landon as Chloe's partner, a complex dynamic could unfold.
