I’m back with yet another new moon phase pattern, what else is new. But, it is not a wall hanging pattern this time (kinda). Introducing the Mini Moon Phase Car Charm!
Told ya it wasn’t a wall hanging, but it might as well be, lol. I really wanted to see if I could shrink the Teeny Weanie Moon Phase Wall Hanging small enough to make it into a keychain but no go. I was , however, able to shrink it enough to make it into a car charm!

It is literally so adorable and has made the cutest addition to my rearview mirror. I even put a few drops of essential oil on the dowel rod to make my car smell pretty, and let me tell you it worked like a charm (see what I did there!).

Yarn Choice
For this car charm pattern I used Hobbii 8/4 Cotton Yarn but you could substitute and super fine weight yarn in your choice of colors.
For this pattern I used the following yarn:
-Hobbii 8/4 Rainbow Cotton in White-approx. 20 yds
-Hobbii 8/4 Rainbow Cotton in Beige -approx. 8 yds
-Hobbii 8/4 Rainbow Cotton in Old Rose-approx. 8 yds
-Hobbii 8/4 Rainbow Cotton in Toffee -approx. 8 yds
-Hobbii 8/4 Rainbow Cotton in Brown-approx. 8 yds
Stitch Key (US Terms)
Ch = Chain
St/sts = Stitch(es)
Sc = Single Crochet
Color Abbreviations
W = White
B = Beige
OR = Old Rose
T = Toffee
BR = Brown
Special Notes
-The car charm is worked in rows.
-The car charm is worked from the bottom up.
-The 1st st of each row should be placed into the same stitch as the turning chain.
-The turning chain does not count as the 1st stitch of the row.
-The pattern is written as: # of single crochet stitches (color abbreviation), example: 8 (W) means 8 sc in White.
-The odd rows are the right side rows. Even rows will be the wrong side.

Dimensions:2 inches wide x 5 inches long (not including fringe)
Gauge:30 sts x 34 rows worked in single crochet.
Pattern

Begin by chaining 16 in White.
Row 1: sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across. Ch 1, turn. (15)
Row 2: sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (15)
Row 3: 2 (W), 1 (B), 9 (W), 1 (B), 2 (W). Ch 1, turn. (15)
Row 4: 2 (W), 2 (B), 7 (W), 2 (B), 2 (W). Ch 1, turn. (15)
Row 5: 3 (W), 2 (B), 5 (W), 2 (B), 3 (W). Ch 1, turn. (15)
Row 6: 3 (W), 9 (B), 3 (W). Ch 1, turn. (15)

Fasten off after Row 41 leaving a 2 foot tail.
Attaching the Fringe
- To create the fringe cut 10 inch pieces of yarn in your color choice.
To attach the fringe, grab 3 strands of yarn. With a crochet hook, push the hook through the far left foundation chain. Fold the 3 strands of yarn in half, looping the middle of the strands onto the crochet hook.
Fold the strands through the loop.
Tighten to create the fringe.
Repeat for every other foundation chain.
Hanging the Project
To attach the project to a dowel rod or tree branch; using a yarn needle, weave the tail over the dowel/branch and back under into the 1st stitch on the top of the wall hanging.
Repeat for each stitch on the top of the wall hanging.
Knot off and weave in your ends.
To hang the project, drill 2 small holes on either side of the branch/dowel. Thread through both holes with cotton yarn and knot off both ends. Trim the excess yarn. (Feel free to use your preferred method of hanging the project)
