Chloe Madeley has come out in defence of her ex-husband James Haskell, confessing that she feels "a bit sorry" for him post their split. The daughter of famous television duo Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan has spoken out about the judgments facing her former partner since their separation after five years of marriage, stating that there is "a heavy insinuation" from the public that I'm a Celebrity star James is "not a nice guy".
However, Chloe stands firm on the character of her ex, insisting he deserves more respect, especially as they navigate co-parenting their daughter Bodhi. The pair had announced their decision to part ways in the autumn of 2023 and have jointly managed parenting duties.
James' post-split escapades have seen him enjoying the company of women, including an instance where he was spotted with DJ Chloe McLennan at Ocean Beach club in Ibiza. Still, Chloe appears unfazed by his bachelor lifestyle and urges people not to be too quick to judge, revealing: "I actually feel a bit sorry for him," in a candid interview. She expressed her frustrations with how her ex-husband is viewed, emphasizing the successful team effort in raising their child: "But we're co-parenting really well, and 50 per cent of that accolade is on him.", reports the Mirror.

Chloe concluded with a call for recognition of their collective efforts, asserting, "I want him to have some of that respect from people, which I don't see him getting. I honestly think James and I are doing a fantastic job and I'm very proud of us both."
Chloe and James revealed they separated in September last year, coinciding with Chloe's series, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair, airing on ITV. At the time of the split, Chloe told her followers: "James and I mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023. We had not planned on releasing a statement at this time - certainly not while the television show was airing - but constant speculation about our marriage has, unfortunately, forced our hand. Beyond this statement, we will not be speaking about this matter publicly, and we would request privacy at this time. Our sole focus now is our beautiful daughter. We shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love."
James reiterated Chloe's request on his Instagram, stating: "It's with a lot of sadness I write this post, but unfortunately, in the world we live in, it has to be done. My priority is my daughter's and Chloe's happiness and security. For that reason, I won't be commenting any further."
Amidst what has been described as a "completely miserable" break-up, Chloe and James are often seen out together looking after their daughter Bodhi, maintaining an amicable relationship for the sake of their child. This has led some admirers to speculate about the possibility of the pair rekindling their romance as they seem rather content in recent family photographs.
Chloe has confirmed that she and her ex have gone their separate ways, and she even thinks that the former England rugby player might find someone new before she does. Sharing with The Sun, Chloe said: "It'll probably happen for James long before it happens to me, if it hasn't already. I'm waiting for the conversation to happen at some point."
She also opened up about being single, stating, "I'm very, very single - like, painfully single. I don't ever get approached, honestly. I have a very anti-social, 'Don't talk to me' face, so I think that might have something to do with it."
The pair, who got married in 2018 and have a daughter named Bodhi born in August 2022, have experienced major life events together. Chloe took to social media in 2022 to share the arrival of their daughter with her fans, posting, "We are delighted to welcome to the world our daughter. We are utterly besotted and beaming with pride," revealing that Bodhi was born on a Wednesday morning at 8.36am. .
